Handmade Card Instructions - Cherish
Designed by Wendy Kennedy
Copy image from http://www.cndcountrygifts.com/images/card24.jpg
Materials:
- Pink Cardstock
- White Cardstock
- Making Memories Eyelet Shapes - Primitive Heart
- Making Memories Daisy Pink Blossoms
- Making Memories Metal Word - Cherish
- Making Memories Eyelet Charm Flower
- Antique Gold Brad
- Tattered Rose, Old Paper, Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pads
- Alcohol Inks - Terra Cotta & Bottle
- Adhesives

Instructions:
- Cut a piece of pink cardstock slightly smaller than twice the
size of your envelope one way & slightly smaller the other
way (always make the card to fit the envelope!).
- Fold in half.
- Cut white cardstock slightly smaller than your card.
- Tear a piece of scrap paper really ragged (like mountains).
Set on white cardstock about 1/2" down from the top with
the tear at the top of the scrap paper. You are going to
direct ink (or use a sponge or dabber) to ink on the white
cardstock above the torn paper (the ragged edge will be
stamped about 1/2" in from the edge of the white cardstock
& it will be inked to the top edge.) Repeat on all 4 sides.
Do your lightest color first - in this case I inked tattered rose,
then old paper, then vintage photo. Ink the 2nd color about
1/2 way down the first color and then use the darkest
color to ink the edges of the paper. If your paper curls iron it
between 2 pieces of blank paper.
- Stick to front of card.
- Make a tool for stamping alcohol inks: Take a small
block of wood (1" x 2" or bigger doesn't have to be exact!).
Glue a piece of velcro to the top of it. Cut a small piece of
felt & put it on the velcro. You've created a tool to stamp
alcohol inks on anything - and believe me it's addicting!!
- Drop 2 drops of both colors of ink on the felt & then stamp
it all over your 3 metal embellishments.
- Stick a large, then a small blossom in the top left corner
of the card. Stick the heart on top of the flowers. Stick
cherish in the center on an angle. Attach the flower to
the bottom left with a brad.

Have you fixed the broken window?
Have you fixed the broken window?
Left alone it doesn't take long for a building with a single
broken window to rapidly become a building with many broken
windows. Fixing problems when they are small will prevent
them from developing into larger problems.
The same is true when considering the level of employee
satisfaction Dissatisfaction spreads like wildfire and in a
surprisingly short period of time you've got morale problems
of the kind that are notoriously hard to fix.
Ensuring your employees are happy is mostly about being
tuned into what their problems are and, importantly, dealing
with them early on. Keeping the initiative is really
important and the secret is that it is better to give a
little and often.
This turns out be a virtuous circle. Fixing the problem when
it's small is also when it's easiest and when it's cheapest.
And taking the initiative without being prompted puts the
manager in a position of strength, which also suits the
employees. Staff like strong, confident management and this
approach generates respect not least because someone has
taken the time to understand some of the employees' issues.
Compare that with managers who are out of touch. They arrive
late at a problem so they are on the defensive, and with
their credibility eroded they have to concede to demands
which in turn leads to further and less reasonable demands.
It's not big and it's not clever.
The issue, then, is how to go about monitoring the morale of
a company without a big budget and without much spare time?
The first port of call should be an online survey. They're
quick, easy to use, and a low cost solution. Surveys can be
created in minutes and deployed in seconds, with the results
compiled in real time; and by using email and websites they
cost nothing to disseminate.
A corporate internet is the ideal delivery mechanism. By
linking through to an online survey website such as
http://www.surveygalaxy.com a company can regularly conduct
surveys so they become part and parcel of the daily
operations.
With an online survey's ability to produce results in
real-time the mood of the employees can rapidly be gauged
and concerns highlighted both on a collective and individual
level.
Using the survey results companies can quickly identify
problem areas and follow-up surveys can be used to target
specific concerns. With good information managers are able
to get to the root of specific problems and prepare a
considered response.
A major advantage of regular surveys is that it allows a
company to address small problems in a timely manner
avoiding 'the straw that broke the camels back' syndrome
where a relatively insignificant incident unleashes a
torrent of pent up concerns.
And don't forget that the majority of employees appreciate
being consulted so asking their opinion is not a sign of
weakness but an indicator of good decision making.
It's unusual to find, but there it is – sometimes management
problems can be solved with something that is quick, easy
and won't break the bank.

Seeking Balance
http://www.seekingbalance.ca
This weekend as we celebrate Father's Day, take an
opportunity to express gratitude for the many wonderful
fathers we see giving their love, support and guidance to
our children on a daily basis.

Personally, in my own life, I am surrounded by them. From my
own father, to my father-in-law, my husband and the many
friends I am blessed to have. I see them at the
supermarket, holding their child while attempting to shop;
on the street riding their bikes, with their children
cautiously proceeding ahead; at the gymnasium, proudly
watching their daughter attempt her first cartwheel and at
church gently kissing their son on the cheek.

Although mothers have typically been the nurturer in our
society, fathers have a huge impact on the raising and
development of our children. . A son will learn first hand
from his father the balance between toughness and
tenderness. Daughters look to their fathers for guidance and
example on how to be treated by the men they will have in
their lives. Fathers are there to give support and protect
their most prized possession…family.

In the book, The Wonder Of Fathers, author C.R. Gibson
writes…He goes by many names. He serves many roles. He's a
shoulder to cry on, to lean on, and to climb on. He can be
quiet, boisterous, athletic, or scholarly. He is his son's
first role model and the first man his daughter will love.
And no matter what else he does in his life, fatherhood will
be his most important and fulfilling achievement.

For those of us who have been blessed to grow up with
fathers in our lives, we are aware of the many roles they do
play in our lifetime. They are a teacher from whom you
learn many of your most important lessons. A coach who is
always cheering for you no matter how good you are. Strong
arms to pick you up when you fall or hug you for no reason
at all. Fathers let you do things that mothers are to
afraid to let you try. They are the voice of reason when
you are attempting to solve one of life's many problems.
They are the voice of support and love when your heart has
been just broken and the protector who vows no one will ever
break your heart again.

This weekend take the opportunity to tell the fathers in
your life just how important they are and how you appreciate
them. Say a prayer for those families who do not have their
fathers with them for whatever reason. Make Father's Day a
time to remember what is really important in this lifetime
and when you nurture each other, everyone benefits.
